Volunteers from Non à la copyright, Oui à la vie have distributed more than 16,000 drug-prevention booklets across French cities and rural communities. The Scientology-supported drug education initiative involves shopkeepers, parents and educators.
Volunteers supplied 5,100 booklets in Oberkampf, Paris, alongside 3,100 in Tarn and 3,000 through around 50 Arcachon shops.
The visits also prompted requests for teaching resources. In Ariège, a person working with a centre for young people with disabilities approached volunteers for materials.
The campaign uses La vérité sur la copyright, the French version of the secular Truth About Drugs programme. Support from the Church of Scientology and its members reflects founder L. Ron Hubbard’s concern about drugs and their effects on society.
Ivan Arjona, Scientology’s representative to the European Union, OSCE, Council of Europe and news european commission United Nations, commented: “Parents and teachers need information they can use, and young people deserve straight answers.”
Scientology communities throughout Europe support educational initiatives, drug prevention, human-rights awareness and volunteer assistance.
